The novel tells the story of the Biafran War (1967-1970). This was a civil war fought between the government of Nigeria and the Republic of Biafra. For the design of this book, I wanted to subtly use all of the four colors from the flag of Biafra.

The story shifts its focus on main characters multiple times. While reading the book, I noticed it is sometimes not that clear about which character the chapter is about. That is why the chapter titles are a bit expanded, to give a bit more of a context to the story you are reading. In the original book, big leaps in the story are indicated with just a few dots. To make these changes more prominent, I made a whole page to give the reader ‘a break’.
